I am with 801a in spirit at the WGDFC regionals at Pentagram, but in physical form I am at the New York Times having a news emergency. So, as a bench-warming team-member, I will make lemons into lemonade (!) and report the movements, the triumphs, the heartbreaks of the 801a-ers LIVE to everyone chained to their computers at 7pm on a Friday.
Apparently, our fair studio-mates Renda and Andrew have played their first round against formidable opponents C&G Partners. “Andrew and I lost our first match, but it was close. We’re playing again in the losers’ bracket,” writes Renda via text message. The score was 2-5.

THIS JUST IN.
Apparently, 801a’s new opponents will be either the New York Times Op-Ed page, or Pure + Applied (Andy’s alma matter). Conflict of interest? Go get-em team!

Team Louise Fili.
7:55 COMPETITION IS HEATED!
In a bizarre master/pupil match-up, Team 801a headed up by Andy Pressman and Geoff Allman beats out Pure + Applied for a close 5-4 victory. The two teams were in a dead heat 4-4. The crowd was riveted. Pressman scores in possibly the biggest foosball move of his young life.

Our next competititor will be fellow DUMBO-ites Big Spaceship. More TKTK.

BREAKING NEWS! 801A DEFEATED 5-0!

Big Spaceship beat 801-a in Round 3. Says Renda via text message, “They had a bad spirit!”
A rematch is sure to be forthcoming.
I am reporting live from the New York Times. My art director says, I can’t believe you are doing this.

This is Big Spaceship.
Andrew calls the game “technically legal.”
