Yesterday on Jay Street, I ran into my old friend Kalim and his friend Demetre outside of Pedro’s. They were hanging around eating tacos and drinking beer while waiting to start filming an episode of The Dante Fried Chicken Show (the first episode features another old friend, the talented Tokion art director Jesse Alexander) on nearby Plymouth Street. Dante cooks fried chicken and throws parties. Tonight for CMJ, there is some kind of crazy Dante Fried Chicken event at Irving Plaza (?) with Spank Rock, Yo Majesty (who did the theme song according to Kalim) + others.

Kalim started grad school this fall, after shooting concert footage for the Phil Collins / Genesis European tour. What’s keeping him up late at night is this: after partying with Phil Collins all summer, where does a late twenties MFA film student go on Spring Break? Fort Lauderdale or Cancun? Readers?
